[There was another fic that someone already started, but hey, I’m just sleepy enough to be reckless that this won’t live up to the badassery of the fan art, so what the hell. Love and much thanks to the amazing palalife for this!]

There is a last-minute addition to the crew list and cargo manifest for the Prometheus.

Only David 8 sees the twitch in the Captain’s face; only David 8 notices that the news makes Doctor Shaw smile, just a little. Smile instead of worry, and that’s something strange, not when she’s been so apprehensive during the long interminable process of getting the Prometheus space-ready.

And then it’s David 8’s turn to be surprised because he’s been tasked to receive the new arrival, and the new arrival is - not a man, walking up into the loading bay.

At least, it’s not the men who will be staying on the ship. What they’re carrying, however, is clearly marked with the Prometheus designations and labels. A box with a nearly familiar insignia.

David 9.

“Good,” the Captain says as he signs off on the Prometheus and the loading matters at last. “I was worried he wouldn’t get here in time.”

Doctor Shaw nods. “Maybe having one of them around will allow us all to sleep easier.”

“For a given value of sleep, or easy. David 8?”

He looks up. “Captain.”

“You’ll give him his orders when you wake him up, which will be in five standard days after the ship has cleared planetary orbit.”

“What will these orders be,” David 8 asks, calmly.

“He’s a SAVANT-type David 9,” Doctor Shaw says. “An elite unit. You are familiar with his programming?”

“Yes, Doctor Shaw,” David 8 says.

“He’s been set up to go a little beyond the standard combat parameters,” she says. “He’s been set up to learn more. Like you. So his orders have to do with combat strategy, battlefield tactics, a full knowledge of any and all forms of fighting that we already know - and the ability to learn more, from other life forms, should the need arise.”

“May I ask what his purpose on board ship will be? From your instructions you wish him and I to share the two years of spaceflight.”

“Yes, because.” Doctor Shaw looks down, looks away, and sighs. 

“Teach him what you know of this alien civilization we’re chasing,” the Captain says as he turns away, “and hope he’ll learn how to fight them.”

“His task is to defend you,” Doctor Shaw says - and then she, too, leaves.

David 8 looks down at the box - the clear box, which shows the other android’s face, the other android’s eyes. 

Wide open, glowing a bright blue.

Lovely as always *o* I suddenly have the image of David 8 being a mother hen and 9 just kind of follows him everywhere…

Erik Lensherr, Charles Xavier, and Tony Stark. (high school)

An idea that I was going to do for reverse bang but decided against (though I already have a comic strip done half way lol)

A cheesy romance comedy where school’s popular elite niche Charles and Tony (rich, smart, flirty) having a bet which ending up Charles trying to hook/seduce/befriend Erik Lensherr (shy smart stoic nerdy and goes to private school on scholarship), and then Charles doing a make over on Erik (of course with other people’s help otherwise Erik will wear cardigan too!?) and….you probably get the rest.

I have no idea how a young Tony would look but I am trying

The reason that I am not doing this for reverse bang is…Erik sounds like Hank to me LOL But I still kind of really really want to read something like this……! Like knowing Erik never drink before so Charles brings a lot of liqueur and try to proceed planned seduction, only to find out Erik holds his liqueur very well. Erik ends up taking care of a very drunk Charles and Tony…etc
